Orthodontics

Orthodontic Treatments to Fix Gaps Between Teeth

General Dentistry

Effective, Gentle Oral Surgery

At Dental Arts Center in Oklahoma City, OK, we offer a range of orthodontic solutions to help you achieve a beautiful, straight smile. Here are some of the options we provide:

Metal Braces

A Classic Option for Straightening Teeth

Most people who want their teeth straightened choose metal braces. These are made using high-grade stainless steel. The ones applied today are less noticeable, easier to tolerate and better looking than those in years past. We can help you determine which orthodontics treatment is right for you at Dental Arts Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Adults often choose ceramic braces for cosmetic reasons

Ceramic Braces

A Discreet Option for Adults

Ceramic braces are less noticeable than the modern metal braces since they are translucent in color, being made of clear material. Adults seem to like ceramic braces best for cosmetic reasons. There is a drawback though in that the ceramic brackets are more fragile than the metal ones and the elastic ties do tend to become discolored between visits to the orthodontist.

The Clear Correct® System

A Clear and Comfortable Alternative to Braces

The Clear Correct® System involves having a series of clear aligners made to fit over the patient’s teeth that gradually get adjusted to move the teeth into perfect alignment. A computer program generating a simulation determines the fit. Adult patients that have particular orthodontic bite issues can benefit from this system. Ask your Dental Arts Center orthodontist in Oklahoma City if Clear Correct would work for you.

The Clear Correct® Teen System

A Clear Alternative to Traditional Braces for Teens

Clear Correct® Teen has now been introduced to help teenagers avoid wearing metal braces which can make them look unattractive on their Facebook profile, not to mention in their yearbook photo. This straightening system involves having clear aligners, which are virtually invisible, fit over your teeth so no one needs to know you are having your teeth straightened. Because they are removable you can eat whatever you want. You can also brush and floss your teeth as normal, which helps keep your gums and teeth healthy. They are more comfortable to wear since there are no wires or brackets to irritate the inside of your mouth.

The Damon® Bracket System

A Comfortable and Efficient Orthodontic Option

Dr. Dwight Damon invented Damon® Braces which utilize brackets with “self-ligation” technology, similar to a sliding door, which enables the wire to move back and forth between the brackets. With these braces you do not need any elastic or stainless steel ties so there is less friction, making these much more comfortable to wear. With this system the treatment time can be reduced along with the number of visits to Dental Arts Center in Oklahoma City for adjustments.

Damon® Clear™

A Clear Orthodontic Appliance with Low-Friction Comfort

Damon® Clear™ provides the patient with a completely clear orthodontic appliance that comes with the low-friction comfort and advantages of self-ligation technology. With this system the patient can enjoy the aesthetically pleasing appearance everyone asks for. Those who have selected this orthodontic method have been satisfied beyond their expectations in both functionality and looks. Damon Clear was developed with patient comfort as the top priority. The brackets are customized for optimum reliability and have proven to be sturdy and not at all prone to discoloration.

Lingual Braces

A Discreet Option for Braces on the Backside of Your Teeth

Just because you have braces on your teeth doesn’t mean you must look like you have a mouth full of metal. Lingual braces are customized to attach to the backside of your teeth, where your tongue touches your teeth. Each bracket must be custom-made and carefully fit for each patient and includes a treatment plan that is equally customized to meet the needs of that particular patient.

Aligners

A Great Solution for Minor Tooth Correction

Aligners have the look and feel of clear retainers, but built into them is a tooth correction so they can gradually move the teeth into alignment. What Dental Arts Center will do is make you a number of aligners, each one designated to be worn for a certain amount of time before moving on to the next one in the series. Each aligner will initially feel tight when first put on, but as you wear them they become more comfortable because your teeth are moving, correcting your alignment. This is a great solution for patients with fairly straight teeth that only needing a minor correction.

General Dentistry

Dental Bridges for a Beautiful, Confident Smile

If you have missing teeth, it can affect your appearance and overall health. Dental bridges can replace one or more consecutive missing teeth, and restore form and function to your smile. At the Dental Arts Center, we offer both traditional bridges and implant-supported bridges.

About Dental Bridges

Crafted from High-Quality Materials for a Natural Look

Dental bridges are typically crafted from ceramic, zirconia, or other high-quality materials. Traditional bridges consist of crowns supporting artificial teeth. To place the bridge, the teeth on either side of the gap will need to be reduced so they can accommodate crowns. Once placed, the restoration “bridges the gap” in your smile for a healthy, aesthetically pleasing result.

Who is a Candidate for Traditional Dental Bridges?

Ideal for Replacing One to Three Missing Teeth

Bridges are often recommended to replace one to three missing teeth. To qualify for this type of treatment, patients should be in good oral health and should not have active gum disease or tooth decay. Because the adjacent teeth must serve as anchors, they must be in excellent health. Maintaining a bridge requires diligent brushing and flossing, and often requires specialized brushes or floss threaders for proper cleaning.

Placing a Traditional Dental Bridge

Convenient and Comfortable Process

To place a traditional dental bridge, Dr. Lorents will first prepare the adjacent teeth. Once this step is complete, he will take digital impressions that will guide fabrication of your new restoration. In some cases, this can be completed in a single appointment. Once your custom dental bridge is complete, Dr. Lorents will carefully place it, check your bite, and make any necessary adjustments. Once the fit is right, he will bond the restoration in place using dental cement.

Implant-Supported Bridges

A Permanent Solution Supported by Dental Implants

An implant-supported bridge is supported by dental implants rather than surrounding teeth, so no alteration of healthy dental tissue is necessary. Receiving an implant-supported restoration involves an added three to six months of healing time in order for the implant and bone tissue to become fused. However, dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care. If you are a qualifying candidate, this option is highly recommended as it can halt the jawbone recession that follows tooth loss.
